In a hair salon the price often depends on hair length, care products are sold alongside the service, and every stylist wants to see their own turnover and tips. Add regular customers whose colour formula should be at hand at the next appointment. This guide shows how to set up a salon in bessa; it fits beauty, nail or barber shops just as well.

Services with a surcharge by hair length
Create one article per service at the base price, e.g. "Cut women", "Colour", "Highlights". Model the surcharge for longer hair with an article option:
-
Name: Hair length
-
Selection: Min 1, Max 1
-
Price: Normal price
-
Article selection: "Short" at €0, "Medium" at e.g. €8, "Long" at e.g. €15
-
Assignment: all services where the length determines the price
Without a preselection the Sales Point asks for the hair length with every booking, and nobody forgets the surcharge. The surcharge appears as a separate line on the invoice.
Create care services such as a treatment or head massage as another optional group "Extra services". "Cut women, long, treatment" then becomes one booking with one tap per choice.
Product sales with stock
Create care and styling products with their product number; a scanner then books them directly. With inventory management enabled, the stock drops with every sale, and the order list shows what needs to be reordered. See Inventory.
If you use products in the salon yourself, such as colour, book the consumption at the Sales Point with Reduce Stock so the stock stays correct.
Turnover and tips per employee
In bessa, turnover and tips count for the user who takes the payment. So that every stylist sees their own figures, there are two ways:
-
Everyone takes their own payments: the stylist signs in at reception with their PIN and takes payment from their customers.
-
Reception takes payment: before taking payment, reception switches to the stylist who served the customer via Switch user, and back afterwards.
Tips the customer gives when paying then also go to the right person, even when entered on the card terminal. At the end of the day, everyone prints their Users report, see Staff in daily operation.
If two people work on one customer, e.g. one colours and one cuts, and both should see their share, take payment for the services in two invoices, each with the matching user.
Regular customers
With the customer management module you create regulars and link them when taking payment via Link customer:
-
Comment: note the colour formula, favourite cut or allergies in the customer's comment field so they are at hand at the next visit.
-
Turnover: the customer details show the turnover of the current and the previous year.
-
Visit history: in the bessa Manager, Invoices with the Select Customer filter lists all invoices of a customer, and with them what was done last time.
-
Regulars' discount: a discount group on the customer deducts the discount automatically.

Vouchers
Salon vouchers are a popular gift. With local vouchers (the Sales Point's Voucher Management module) you sell value vouchers with a barcode, see Sell a voucher. For selling through your website or the app there are online vouchers. For vouchers for a specific service, check with your tax advisor whether they must be treated as single-purpose vouchers.
Frequently asked questions
Can bessa manage appointments? No. You manage appointments in your appointment book or booking system; bessa takes care of payment.
Can I credit turnover to another stylist afterwards? No. The assignment happens when taking payment. So switch to the right person before taking payment.
