Printing Groups

With printing groups you organise the distribution of your orders to the right stations – for example the kitchen, bar or pickup area. A printing group acts as a virtual printer to which you later assign a physical printer at the Sales Point.

What Are Printing Groups?

Printing groups are logical groupings for order printing. They make it possible to bundle orders thematically and route them to the corresponding preparation station:

  • Kitchen: All food is printed here

  • Bar: Drinks orders go automatically to the counter

The advantage: you configure the printing groups once centrally in bessa Manager. At each Sales Point you then assign a physical printer to the printing group – so a printer can also serve multiple printing groups.

Tip: You can later assign printing groups to article groups or order monitors. The physical printer assignment is done in the printer settings at the respective Sales Point.

Manage Printing Groups

The overview of all printing groups can be found in bessa Manager under Articles > Printing Groups.

The table shows all existing printing groups with the following columns:

Typical Use Cases

Hospitality with kitchen and bar

Create two printing groups:

  • Kitchen: For all food and warm dishes

  • Bar: For drinks and cocktails

Then assign your article groups accordingly: the "Main courses" article group is assigned the "Kitchen" printing group, the "Drinks" article group the "Bar" printing group.

Multiple kitchen stations

For larger businesses with multiple preparation stations:

  • Cold kitchen: Salads, cold starters

  • Warm kitchen: Main courses, soups

  • Patisserie: Desserts, cakes

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can a physical printer serve multiple printing groups? Yes. In the printer settings at the Sales Point, you can assign a printer to multiple printing groups. So, for example, "Kitchen" and "Bar" can be output on the same printer.

What happens if I don't assign a printer to a printing group? Orders for that printing group are not printed. Make sure that every printing group used has a printer assigned at the Sales Point.

Can I rename printing groups without losing assignments? Yes. Renaming a printing group only changes its name – all assignments to article groups remain intact.

How many printing groups can I create? There is no fixed upper limit. Create as many printing groups as you need for your business.
