Pricing Levels

What Are Pricing Levels?

Pricing levels define different pricing structures for your articles that can deviate from the default price. Pricing levels let you set flexible prices depending on the consumption type, time of day or occasion – for example, different prices for in-house consumption and takeaway, happy-hour promotions, or seasonal offers.

Each pricing level is assigned to a consumption type and given a unique name. The actual prices for each pricing level are then set on the respective article.

Without a defined pricing level, the article's default price applies automatically.

Consumption Types

Consumption types describe how your customers consume the products. In bessa Kassa, three fixed consumption types are available:

Consumption type

Description

šŸ½ļø In-house

Customer consumes the order on the premises

šŸ“¦ Takeaway

Customer takes the order with them

🚚 Delivery

The order is delivered to the customer

The consumption type can have tax implications. In Germany, for example, a different tax rate applies to food consumed in-house and to takeaway. Clarify any tax-specific issues with your tax advisor.

Use Cases for Pricing Levels

Pricing levels offer many uses:

  • Consumption-dependent prices: Different prices for in-house, takeaway and delivery

  • Time-bound promotions: Happy hour, lunch menus, breakfast prices

  • Seasonal offers: Christmas promotions, summer-festival prices

  • Marketing campaigns: Discount promotions, special offers for certain time periods

  • Event prices: Special prices for events or holidays

How Do Pricing Levels Work?

Setting up pricing levels takes three steps:

1. Create a pricing level

Under Article Management > Pricing Levels you create new pricing levels with a unique name and the associated consumption type.

2. Set prices on the article

For each article you define the actual prices for the desired pricing levels. The article can have an individual price for each pricing level.

3. Configure availability at the Sales Point

For each Sales Point, under Display you specify which pricing levels are available and can optionally define time restrictions.

The default consumption type, priorities for multiple active pricing levels and time restrictions are defined in the display configuration of the Sales Point.

Manage Pricing Levels

Pricing levels can be created, edited and deleted at any time. There is no limit on the number of pricing levels.

Deleting a pricing level affects all articles that use it. Before deleting, check which articles are affected.
