Demo Mode

Demo Mode in bessa Kassa enables risk-free testing and training – without affecting your real business data.

Overview

Demo Mode is an integrated training environment in bessa Kassa, designed specifically for training and system testing. In this mode, you can use all Sales Point functions without postings being saved or transmitted to the server.

Typical use cases:

• Onboarding of new employees on the Sales Point system

• Testing new functions or settings before live operation

• Demonstrating the system to potential customers (resellers)

• Practising complex posting workflows such as cancellations or discounts

• Simulating daily closings for training purposes

Activate Demo Mode

To activate Demo Mode in bessa Kassa:

1. Open the menu (☰) at the Sales Point

2. Navigate to Settings

3. Tap Activate Demo Mode

Once activated, data synchronisation with the server is paused. You can now carry out test postings.

Deactivate Demo Mode

To exit Demo Mode and return to regular operation:

1. Open the menu (☰) at the Sales Point

2. Navigate to Settings

3. Tap Deactivate Demo Mode

After deactivation, all test data created during Demo Mode is automatically deleted and you are logged out of the Sales Point. After logging in again, you can resume live operation as usual.

What Happens in Demo Mode?

No Permanent Storage

The following actions are not saved permanently in Demo Mode:

• Startbelege

• Postings and orders

• Invoices and receipts

• Daily closings

• Payment transactions

No Synchronisation

In Demo Mode, no data synchronisation with the server takes place:

• Test data does not appear in the bessa Manager dashboard

• No transmission to FinanzOnline

• No effect on your revenue statistics

• No impact on your quotas

Demo Mode is ideal for training new team members:

1. Practise basics: Posting articles, taking orders, creating invoices

2. Test payment methods: Cash, card, vouchers – without real transactions

3. Cancellations and corrections: Practise correcting incorrect postings

4. Discounts and special prices: Run through different discount scenarios

5. Simulate daily closing: Carry out the full sales point closing

System Test Before Going Live

Before live operation, we recommend:

• Checking all articles and categories for correct prices

• Testing the printer layout and receipt design

• Reviewing the floor plan and areas (hospitality)

• Validating user permissions and PIN codes

Avoid Common Mistakes

Demo Mode Accidentally Active

Issue: Real customer orders are recorded in Demo Mode and are lost.

Solution:

• Always check the mode status before starting business

• Pay attention to the visual indicator for Demo Mode

• Train your team to check the mode status

Forgetting to Deactivate

Issue: After training, Demo Mode is forgotten and not deactivated.

Solution:

• Create a checklist for ending training sessions

• Demo Mode must be actively deactivated – it does not switch off automatically

Expecting Test Data to Persist

Issue: Assuming that demo postings will remain accessible later.

Solution:

• Demo data is irreversibly deleted on deactivation

• For permanent test scenarios, use a separate test location

FAQ

Can I activate Demo Mode multiple times?

Yes – you can activate and deactivate Demo Mode as often as you like. The test data is deleted on each deactivation.

Will my master data (articles, users) be changed in Demo Mode?

No – your master data remains unchanged. Demo Mode only affects transaction data such as postings and invoices.

Is Demo Mode also available on mobile devices?

Yes – Demo Mode is available on all devices on which bessa Kassa is installed.

Can I use the printer in Demo Mode?

Yes – you can print test receipts. However, these are marked as demo receipts and are not relevant for tax purposes.

What happens during a power outage in Demo Mode?

After restarting the Sales Point, you are back in regular mode. Pending demo postings are lost.
