Discounts can be applied either to an entire order or to individual articles in the cart. Both forms accept an absolute amount (€) or a percentage (%).
Discount the entire order

In the cart, open the options menu in the top right (three dots).

Select Add discount.

Enter the discount value — use the dropdown next to the input field to switch between € and %.

Confirm with Apply.
The discount is deducted from the order total and listed separately on the invoice.
Discount a single article

Long-press the article line in the cart.

Choose Add discount in the context menu.

Enter the discount value (€ or %) and confirm with Apply.
The discount then only affects the value of that one cart line.
Discount from the linked customer
If a customer carries a discount — a standard discount or a discount group — the Sales Point applies it automatically as soon as the customer is linked to the order. This happens both while ordering and while taking payment, so there is nothing to type in.
Which value applies:

If the customer has a discount group, the group's discount applies — the customer's standard discount is ignored.

Without a discount group, the customer's standard discount (%) applies.

If a discount group holds a percentage, that percentage takes priority over an amount.
A manually entered discount is never made worse: if you have already granted a higher percentage discount on the order, it is kept. An absolute group discount is only applied when no discount has been set on the order yet. Conversely, you can change or remove the automatically applied discount at any time as described below.
Discount groups require bessa Kassa 6.1 or newer; a customer's standard discount works regardless of the version. For details on assigning them see Customers on the Sales Point and Discount Groups.
If a customer's discount group has been deleted in the bessa Manager, no discount is applied — the order continues without a reduction and no error is shown.
Independently of the discount, a customer can also carry a pricing level. It swaps the article prices instead of subtracting a reduction, and works on top of the discount: the pricing level's price applies first, and the discount is subtracted from it. See Customers on the Sales Point.
Discount from a function key
The order screen can hold tiles with the Discount (entire order) and Item Discount (last posted line) functions. Tapping one applies the discount stored on the tile — a fixed percentage, a fixed amount, or the discount of a discount group.
This is the fastest route for recurring reductions, because no value has to be entered. The tiles are configured in the bessa Manager under Display.
Tiles that apply a discount group require bessa Kassa 6.1 or newer. Tiles with a fixed percentage or amount also work on older versions.
Change or remove a discount
Both operations follow the same path as applying it:

Order discount → options menu → Edit discount or Remove discount.

Article discount → long-press the cart line → Edit discount or Remove discount.
