The stock movement report in the bessa Manager shows, for one warehouse and one period, what each article started with, what was stocked up, stocked out, sold and voided, and what is left at the end. Use it, for example, to evaluate a sub-warehouse for a month or a season without going through every article in the stock history.
Requirements
-
Your user role includes the Warehouse Management and Reports permissions. If one of them is missing, neither the Stock movements report type nor the Report button in the warehouse view appears. The Advanced Reports permission is not needed. See Manage User Roles and Permissions.
-
Stock management is enabled for the articles, see Set Up Articles for Inventory Management.
Open the Report
From the warehouse view: open Manage → Warehouses, select the warehouse and click Report at the top right next to Order list. On a phone, Report is in the actions menu. The report opens for this warehouse and the current month.
From the reports: open Reports → Reports and, under Set report, choose the report type Stock movements. Then select the period and the warehouse.
As long as no warehouse is selected, the report shows the notice No warehouse selected.
Select Warehouse and Period
You configure the report in the Set report sidebar:
|
Setting |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Period |
day, week, month, quarter, year or a custom period, as for the other reports. The period may cover at most one year. |
|
Warehouse |
exactly one warehouse. Sub-warehouses are listed individually, labelled "parent warehouse › sub-warehouse". |
|
Restrict articles |
optional, only these articles |
|
Restrict article group |
optional, only articles in these groups |
Each warehouse is evaluated on its own. The report for a parent warehouse contains only its own bookings, not those of its sub-warehouses. To evaluate several warehouses, open the report for each warehouse separately.
Company, locations, Sales Points, users, customer and the comparison with a previous period do not apply to this report and are hidden. The report covers all bookings of the warehouse, no matter at which Sales Point they were made.
Columns
The report has one row per article that had stock at the start of the period or was booked during the period.

Why outgoing quantities are negative: every row adds up. Add the opening stock and all movement columns and you get the closing stock. Example: opening stock 12, stock-ins 24, stock-outs −2, stocktaking −1, sales −18, cancellations 1 gives a closing stock of 16.
Transfers appear in both warehouses involved: under Stock-ins in the target warehouse and under Stock-outs in the source warehouse.
Portion articles that deduct from a main article do not have their own row. Their sales count proportionally towards the main article. If, for example, 15 bottles and three eighths of wine are sold, the main article shows −15.375 under Sales.
The report shows quantities with up to three decimal places. There is no total row, because the articles use different units.

Troubleshooting
"No warehouse selected": select a warehouse under Set report.
"Period too long": the period covers more than one year. Select a shorter period.
"The report took too long": for warehouses with a very large number of bookings, the calculation can take longer than allowed. Select a shorter period or restrict the report to articles or article groups.
FAQ
Why does the closing stock differ from the current stock level? The closing stock applies to the end of the selected period. If the period ended in the past, all later bookings are missing. If the period ends today, only bookings up to the moment you open the report are included.
Where can I see which bookings make up a number? In the article's stock history. It lists every booking individually with date, user and quantity.
Where are returns? In bessa a return is a void and appears under Cancellations.
Where do internal invoices such as invitations, breakage or staff consumption appear? Under Stock-outs, because they are not sales. If an internal invoice is voided, the void appears under Stock-ins. Internal invoices settled before the Sales Point was updated to this rule remain under Sales or Cancellations.
Does the report show revenue or purchase values? No, only quantities. Revenue per article is provided by the Articles report type under Reports.
