The Bon Routing Preview works out which Bons an order splits into, which printer each Bon goes to, and which order monitor shows which articles – before anything is actually printed. That way you spot a misconfiguration on screen instead of in the middle of service.
There are two routes to the same analysis:
-
Simulate: Manage → Diagnostics → Bon routing preview. You assemble an order that never existed.
-
Retrace: the Bon routing section in the detail view of a real order under Orders or Invoices.
Nothing is printed and nothing is sent to the Sales Point. The analysis is derived from the current configuration – not from a stored print log. For an older order you therefore see how it would be printed today.
Simulating an Order
-
Select the Sales Point the order would be created on.
-
Select the area – terrace, dining room, floor. The area is part of what decides which printer is responsible.
-
Add articles. For each article, only the extras and options actually configured for it are selectable – exactly as on the Sales Point.
The result appears immediately and updates with every change.
Reading the Bon Cards
Every resulting Bon is shown as its own card, with target printer, printing group, split mode, and the receipt lines. Above the cards you see which configuration was used:
-
Source: main Sales Point or Source: sub-terminal "‹name›" – if the order was entered on a sub-terminal, that terminal's printer configuration applies; the main Sales Point serves only as a fallback.
-
Area: ‹name› – the area of the order. If it has its own, differing printer assignment, · differing printer assignment is added to it.
Identical order lines are merged into one line with a summed quantity, just as on the Sales Point ("2 Cola"), and the Bon content is grouped by course – articles without a course first.
Warnings
If a Bon deviates from the expected route, this is highlighted:
|
Warning |
Meaning |
|---|---|
|
Fallback to the receipt printer |
No printer is configured for the printing group on this Sales Point. |
|
Delegation to the main Sales Point |
The Bon is not printed on the device itself but handed over to the main Sales Point. |
|
Option on its own Bon |
An extra prints separately from its parent article because it is set up as an article of its own with its own printing group. |
Show decision path opens the full assignment chain for each Bon – which rule applied and which did not.
Additional Printouts
Besides the ordinary order or kitchen Bon, further printouts arise depending on the configuration. The preview lists them individually and counts them in the Bon total.
Announcement Bons
If the announcement is enabled for a printing group, an additional Bon marked Announcement is created – with its own target printer (role "Announcement", including the fallback to the main Sales Point) and its own split mode. If the split mode is "One Bon", the announcements of all affected groups are merged into one shared Bon.
Course Call Bons
If the course request is active on the Sales Point, articles with an assigned course are not printed when the order is entered but only when the course is called. The preview therefore holds them back from the order Bon and instead shows the Course call Bons section: per course, which Bons arise on which printer when the course is called. Articles of a course not yet called are marked only after the call on the order monitor; an item added to a course that has already been called appears as a Bon of the next call.
Status Printouts
When staff advance an article on the order monitor to a status that this monitor no longer displays, the Sales Point prints a status Bon. The Status printouts (order monitor) section shows, per status, which printing group is used – the status's own or, as a fallback, the monitor's – and which printer the Bon goes to.
If no printer is configured for that printing group on this Sales Point, the row is greyed out and marked will be skipped. There is deliberately no fallback to the main Sales Point here.
Appearance on the Order Monitor
The Appearance on the order monitor section shows, per course, the time offset with which the articles appear on the monitor – for example "appears +5:00". The logic behind it:
-
Articles with a longer preparation time appear earlier, so that all dishes of a course are ready at the same time.
-
Courses build on one another in time.
-
The maximum preparation time of a course caps outliers.
-
Without courses, the offset is calculated per order monitor.
-
With the course request active, the times relate to the respective course call.
The figure is purely informational and calculated from the current configuration.
Monitor Markers on the Articles
Each article shows which order monitor displays it at which status – for example Kitchen · In preparation. Three special cases read as follows:
-
shows nothing – no order step is assigned to the monitor, so it never displays the article. That is different from "all steps".
-
display only – the article itself matches no monitor, but one of its options does. It appears there as a heading line for the matching option, cannot be advanced on its own, and triggers no status printouts.
-
An option without its own monitor assignment runs on the same monitors as its parent article. If an option is set up as an article of its own with a different article group, it is correctly reported as "not on monitors".
What Does Not Appear as a Printed Line
Some lines run along in the background but are never printed on a Bon – the preview therefore does not show them as receipt lines either:
-
Stock articles (deposits, for example) and their extra options; they also receive no monitor marker.
-
Free-of-charge information articles.
-
Free options, if "Show free options" is disabled for the printing group.
The routing itself is unaffected: target printer and printing group are still reported. A Bon containing only stock articles appears as a header-only Bon without receipt lines. Regular articles sitting below a stock article, by contrast, run normally with their own line and their own monitor marker.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why can't I see the "Bon routing" section on an order? The section only appears for Sales Points with a stored printer configuration. Without printer settings it stays hidden entirely.
The preview shows a different route than the Bon actually took. Is that a bug? No. The analysis always uses today's configuration. If the printer assignment has changed since, the result differs.
Can I accidentally print something with the preview? No. Nothing is printed and nothing is sent to the Sales Point.
Why can't I assign every option to an article in the simulation? Because the Sales Point does not allow it either. Only the extras configured for that article are selectable.
