The audit log records changes made in the bessa Manager: who created, changed, or deleted what, and when. It settles a question that otherwise ends in guesswork – why an article price, a permission, or a Sales Point setting is different today than it was last week.
You will find the audit log in the bessa Manager under Reports → Audit log.
The Overview
Each row stands for one recorded change and names the time, the type of the affected object, the action, and the person who carried it out. The actions are additionally marked with an icon:
|
Action |
Meaning |
|---|---|
|
Created |
The object was newly created. |
|
Changed |
One or more fields were changed. |
|
Deleted |
The object was deleted. |
|
Notice |
A recorded event that is none of the other three actions. |
By default the audit log always shows the most recent entries, without a pre-set time range. You immediately see what happened last and narrow things down only when you need to.
Filtering
Four filters are available:
-
Time range – from/to, if you are checking a particular day or week.
-
Type – the kind of object, such as article, Sales Point, or user.
-
Action – Created, Changed, Deleted, Notice.
-
User – the person who carried out the change.
Action, Type, and User accept multiple values: in one pass you can search for "Changed and Deleted" on "Articles and Article groups" by two particular people.
The User filter also lists super users, that is the main users of an account. Their actions were always recorded but could not previously be filtered for specifically.
Viewing Change Details
The info icon at the end of a row opens the Change details dialog. It presents the change in readable form instead of showing a technical message:
-
For a change you see a before / after comparison. By default only the fields that actually changed are shown; a toggle adds the unchanged ones.
-
For a creation the new values are shown as a field list.
-
For a deletion a corresponding note is shown.
-
Everything else is rendered as formatted JSON.
The "changed fields only" default is the faster route: on an article with many fields you see straight away that only the price changed, instead of hunting for the change in a long list of identical values.
History of a Single Object
You do not have to go through the overall list if only one object interests you. The dialogs of articles, Sales Points, locations, users, and customers each have their own Audit log tab showing only the change history of that object.
That is the usual route in daily work: open the article, switch tabs, read the history.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are changes on the Sales Point recorded too? The audit log captures changes in the Manager. Events on the Sales Point itself – orders, payments, voids – can be traced via Orders, Invoices, and the Sales Point closing.
Can I delete an entry? No. The log is immutable – that is the whole point of the feature.
Why can't I find an entry for a change? Check the filters first, in particular a time range you may have set. If that does not help, contact bessa Support.
Can I undo a change from the audit log? Not automatically. The dialog shows you the previous value; you have to set it again yourself where it originally belongs.
